In the arid moonscape of southern Peru, about 200 miles south of Lima, lies one of the world’s most enigmatic mysteries. Enormous lines, shapes and geoglyphs have been etched in the red desert soil with a precision and artistry that defies the ancient people who created them. These hundreds of geometric figures and designs – some 30 miles long – were created between 200 BC and 600 AD have been preserved throughout the centuries due to the unique climate of the area, with little wind, rain, erosion or vegetation to obscure them over time. They are best seen from the air, and were only rediscovered in 1939 after the advent of flight. So how exactly did the ancient Nazca Indians create them? More importantly, why? What purpose did they serve? No one really knows for sure, but the theories include suspicions of alien intervention! Check out this short video and be amazed.
