A woman named Cassie De Peco has officially become the first woman to visit every country on the planet, and she managed to hit all 196 of them in 18 months and 26 days.
The trip was a part of her ambassadorship for the International Institute of Peace Through Tourism, and the goal of the trip was to raise awareness and plant enough trips to offset the carbon footprint of all that traveling.
“It’s tough to figure out to get permission to plant a tree in a lot of countries, but I’ve been trying to do that as much as possible. I’ve planted close to 50 trees now but there’s about 500 more, so that’s just a goal.”
The IIPTT is, “a not for profit organization dedicated to fostering and facilitating tourism initiatives which contribute to international understanding and cooperation, an improved quality of environment, the preservation of heritage, and through these initiatives, helping to bring about a peaceful and sustainable world.”
