France has seen a recent drop in tourism but it still remains the most popular tourist destination in the world. Last year alone 82.5 million people visited the country, which was still a drop from the 85 million the year before.
Over the past few years, France had three different terrorist attacks in Paris, Nice, and Rouen which all proved to scare people off a bit. The biggest decrease that they’ve seen in tourists are those from Asia and Japan most specifically.
Last week there was an incident outside of the Louvre, and they recently shared their plans to put up a bulletproof wall around the Eiffel Tower to try and offer as much protection to the busy site as possible.
The government has the goal of attracted 200 million tourists by the year 2020.
