The travel app GoEuro is showing promise of becoming a multi-billion dollar company after a recent round of investments worth $70 million, which is still uncommon in the world of European apps.
The app focuses a lot on ground transportation options as opposed to just flights, although it has those too. Ground transportation is still extremely popular in Europe. Currently as much as 80 percent of those ground transportation tickets are sold in station, but GoEuro wants to make the experience a more mobile one.
“We are the largest source of information on ground transportation options in Europe. It is a huge barrier to entry. Many operators don’t have mobile applications. You should be able to click a button and hop on the next train.”
The app is currently attracting 10 million users each month, and it allows user to access the site in 12 different languages.
GoEuro was first founded four and half years back and has earned $146 million in funding since then. The company plans to use the most recent round of funding to expand its service to 30 countries in Europe. Currently users can book with over 500 European transport operators.
