The residents of San Francisco are well aware that tourism is an extremely important industry to the city. The San Francisco Travel Association periodically does surveys to see how the locals feel about it.
Joe D’Alessandro, the president and CEO of the San Francisco Travel Association released a statement about the findings.
“Based on these independent findings, it is deeply gratifying to see the vast majority of San Francisco residents continue to appreciate the important role tourism plays in the economic vitality of our city.”
A whopping 98 percent of locals said that “tourism is very important or important to the vitality of the city’s economy.” Only slightly less at 96 percent think that tourism money is crucial to the city budget. Seventy-three percent of residents agree that “tourism makes San Francisco a better place to live.”
