The last supermoon of the year will take place on Tuesday night, bringing the yearly number to six. The next supermoon, however, won’t take place until the following December of 2017, and the next large one won’t happen for another 20 years.
Tuesday’s supermoon is supposed to quite a sight, and it will be the closest that the moon will be to the earth until the year 2034.
There is also a meteor shower on Tuesday night called the Geminids Meteor Shower, and while it’s generally considered a reliable and easy to spot one, it might be partly covered by the moon. The Geminids generally send out 120 meteors each hour.
There is another meteor shower coming up which will peak on December 22. The Ursids as its called generally send out a couple shooting stars each hour. Luckily plenty of people share their photos from these events for the rest who don’t get the chance to see them.
