At one point some hotel insiders took the forum Quora to share some secrets that they know from working in the industry. Here are some of the points that they mentioned.
Sundays are the Best Day
When you’re trying to get the best room possible, Sunday’s are the best days to check in. That’s the day that most of the weekend visitors are checking out, and the day before most of the business travelers are checking in.
Skip the Third Party Booking App
There are often some pretty great hotel rates on third party booking apps, but you might be able to land an even better deal if you just call the hotel and directly ask about their “base” or “rack” rates. The hotel would prefer that you book directly through them than the third party, so they are likely to hook you up as well as remember you down the line.
Being Nice Can Get You Far
Many hotel employees have the ability to offer out perks and upgrades to anyone they want, so being nice can get you pretty far in that way. This is another reason why it helps to be a loyal customer and book directly through the hotel. They will reward you for doing so.
