Dubai is launching a project called Marsa Al Arab which will cost $1.7 billion to complete. Part of the project includes creating two man-made islands next to the Burj Al Arab hotel.
One of the islands will have housing, which includes 140 luxury villas and 300 residential apartments. The other will be designated for entertainment such as a water park and a theater that will hold 1,700 people.
The Dubai Holding chairman Abdulla Al Habbai released a statement about the project
“The launch of this new and ambitious project is in line with the directives of the visionary leadership to provide the finest and rewarding tourism experiences for visitors to Dubai. The project will support Emiratisation in the tourism sector by providing new job opportunities and encouraging Emiratis to commit their innovative and creative ideas to this vital sector.”
The addition of the islands will add 1.4 miles to the coastline.
