Canada immediately responded to Donald Trump’s travel ban by offering temporary residency to anyone who is stranded in the country.
Canada’s Immigration Minister Ahmed Hussen, who happens to be a Somali refugee spoke at a press conference on Sunday.
“Let me assure those who may be stranded in Canada that I will use my authority as minister to provide them with temporary residency if they need it.”
He went on to say that a few travelers had been in Canada at the time when the ban into effect, which temporarily is seeking to keep out reentry from Muslim countries for 90 days. In total over 100 were detained over the weekend.
All over the world other countries are denouncing the move and making efforts to support the people who happen to be affected.
