Airline travelers might want to start double checking those TSA trays for change for heading on to their flights. According to a recent report, people left $867,812.39 in change and small bills last year alone.
This number is a huge increase from 2011 when it was $486,000. Visitors to John F. Kennedy airport in New York City reportedly left the most, followed by Los Angeles International Airport, and then Dallas-Fort Worth.
TSA, of course, gets to keep that money, and congress allows them to spend on whatever program they want as long as it falls within aviation. They have not yet announced what they will do with the almost million dollars left behind in 2016.
