American Airlines is the latest airline to announce that they will start serving free food on select flights. The meal service will begin May 1 and will be available on flights between Los Angeles and New York, as well as San Francisco and New York.
The meal offered will change depending on the time of day, but the options include a continental breakfast, a boxed meal with a sandwich, chips, and fruit, or a vegetarian option.
The airline’s vice president of global marketing Fernand Fernandez released a statement about the move.
“Some of our best customers fly our trans-continental routes and we want to give them a top-notch onboard experience. Providing complimentary meals in the Main Cabin is yet another step we’re taking to enhance our service in this competitive market.”
