Google maps has announced a feature that will enable real-time location sharing, making it easier for you friends to find you and vice versa.
Now users can open the side menu and see a blue dot that represents where they are. There will be a “share location” button which will give the option of sending it to someone that’s listed in any of your contacts.
There’s also an option to keep the location in “navigation mode” which will continuously update as you are on your way to the next destination. An icon will be shown above the compass when the sharing feature is being used.
Location sharing has been around for a while in other map services, but this is the first time that Google has rolled the option out.
