New year, new top travel destinations. This year Portugal is expected to be a popular spot after seeing a 22 percent increase in travelers over the past year and being named the Destination of the Year by Travel and Leisure.
Portugal has long been appealing to a lot of people based on the fact that it offers historic town life, adventurous activities, gorgeous beaches, and lots of wine.
There are tons of wine regions in Portugal that are both well known and not lesser known, so there’s something for everyone. One lesser known region is called Minho, which not only makes a bunch of cheap wine but also boasts a national park.
Portugal is also home to the Azores islands rival Hawaii in volcano hikes, whale watching, and other outdoor activities in stunning waterside settings.
