Room service is one extremely convenient part of staying in a hotel, but not everything is you order is going to be top notch. The best cooks are usually working for the hotel restaurant as opposed to the room service orders. Depending on the hotel this can vary a lot. Here are some things that you should never order from room service.
Seafood.
The shrimp cocktail might be one of the more popular items on a room service menu, but in most hotels, it’s not as fresh as you’d hope it to be. Most shrimp is moved from the freezer to the refrigerator to await an order, meaning it can be sitting around for a while. It’s safer to go with something that keeps better, such as a turkey sandwich.
Stuff that needs to be hot.
Unless you’re on one of the lower floors of a hotel there’s always a chance that your food is not going to be piping hot by the time it arrives at your door. Save yourself the heartache ad order something that was already cold (again like a turkey sandwich), or something that will still taste good cold. Cold french fries, for example, are usually a little disappointing.
Well done steak.
Steak will actually continue to cook a bit as it is en route to your room in its own juices, so if unless you truly want a well-done steak you might try ordering it a little rarer than you’d prefer the finished product. You’re most likely to get it the way you like it with that tactic and avoid an overdone bummer.
