SeaWorld has announced its plans to open its first park without Orcas, which will be located in Abu Dhabi.
This will also be the park’s first location outside of the U.S, where it will be joining a few other parks on Yas island including Ferrari World Abu Dhabi, Yas Waterworld, and the Yas Marina Circuit.
There have not been many details released at this point about what the park will look like, but it has been announced that the park will have some large scale attractions, aquariums, and other high-tech experiences.
The park will also include a center that is dedicated to research and rehabilitation, where visitors can see some animals up close and personal.
While opening without orcas seems like a step forward, groups like PETA still have their concerns. Tracy Reiman, PETA’s executive vice president, released a statement about the move.
“In a country with a state-of-the-art Formula One racetrack, the world’s fastest roller coaster, and buildings that push the limits of architectural imagination, tiny tanks filled with miserable animals couldn’t look more out of date or out of place.”
