When we think of travelling we think tend to think about regular sized airplanes, sure. However there are some insanely huge airplanes in the world that you would never have imagined!
10) A340-500
This plane has a capacity for 375 passengers and a cabin of 53 and a half metres by 5 and a half. (53.56m and 5.28m.) It was launched by Emirates in 2003 and it is powered by four RR Trent 500 engines that propel it to Mach 0.86 with a range of 9,000 nautical miles! (16,670km)
9) Ilyushin 96-400
This Russian airplane can hold 436 passengers and has a fuselage based on the Il-96M/T. It is powered by four Aviadvigatel PS-90A1 engines that allow it to cruise at 870km/h with a service ceiling of just under 40,000 ft. (39,370ft)
8) A340-300
This plane can carry a maximum of 440 passengers, and has a cabin measuring 50.3 m by 5.2. It’s powered by four CFM56-5C4 engines and has a service ceiling of 41,100ft.
7) Airbus A330-300
This is the most economical mid-size aircraft with capacity for 440 passengers and a cabin 5.28 meters wide.
It can speed along at 541mph (871km/h) and it is powered by General Electric CF6-80E1 or Pratt & Whitney PW4000 or Rolls-Royce Trent 700, depending on the airline.
6) Boeing 777-200
This one has a capacity of 440 passengers with a cabin width of 5.86m. This plane was the first variant in the Boeing 777 aircraft series. It’s powered by Pratt & Whitney 4077, Rolls-Royce Trent 877 and General Electric GE90-77B, with a speed of 560mph (905km/h).
5) Boeing 747-8 Intercontinental (747-8I)
It holds 467 passengers with a cabin width of 6.1m. It is the largest passenger aircraft version in the 747 series, and was launched by Lufthansa. It has General Electric GEnx 2B67 engines and soars along at 570mph (917km/h).
4) A340-600
This one can hold around 475 passengers with a cabin of size of 61m by 5.28. It has the longest-fuselage among the A340 Family aircraft, and was launched by Virgin Atlantic. It’s powered by four Rolls-Royce Trent 556 engines with a top speed of 543mph (881km/h).
3) Boeing 747-400
This is the most common in the Boeing 747 family. It has a capacity of 524 passengers with a spacious cabin measuring 6m wide and has major aerodynamic improvements since its previous 747 models. It’s powered by four General Electric GE CF6-80C2B5F engines and reaches speeds of 567mph (913km/h).
2) Boeing 777-300
This beast can hold 550 passengers with 368 seats in a three-class configuration. It belongs to Cathay Pacific, and can speed along at 554 miles an hour (892km/h) at 35,000ft. Its engines can vary from Pratt & Whitney 4098, Rolls-Royce Trent 892 and General Electric 90-94B.
And at no.1) Airbus A380-800
This is the biggest passenger airplane in the world, that can hold 853 passengers!!! It’s also known as Superjumbo. Just the main cabin deck is 50m long and 6 and a half meters wide. It’s powered by four Rolls-Royce Trent 900 engines or sometimes four Engine Alliance GP7200 engines and can speed along at 587mph (945km/h)
