Video: Test Your Fear of Heights on Tianmen Mountain’s Glass Sidewalk

China sure knows how to entice thrill seekers and inspire acrophobia in us all. Deep in Hunan’s mountainous landscapes is a dizzying new glass walkway that hugs the cliffs of Tianmen Mountain. This 100m long and 1.6m wide “Coiling Dragon Cliff” hovers 1402m above the land and snakes for 99 turns that present breathtaking views – or terrifying vistas, depending on your mettle. The glass walkway is a mere 6.3cm thick, so you feel like you’re walking on air, or about to plummet down the vertical drop if that’s your perspective. It’s the third such attraction on the mountain, which also boasts the Zhangjiajie Grand Canyon Glass Bridge, the world’s longest glass bottom bridge. If you’re too faint of heart to walk on glass, you can also enjoy the views from the world’s longest cable car that takes 30 minutes to transport you up over 7km. But if you want the ultimate spectacular selfie with full bragging rights, walk the glass.
