There are lots of places in the world that we are eager to see. Longing for the holiday season to prepare our trip. However, there are some places that nobody wants to visit at all. Let’s see them!
1) Democratic Republic of São Tomé and Príncipe, Africa
This is actually a remarkable country for those who love beaches. It’s full of them and has the interesting Obo National Park, even though it’s the second smallest country in Africa. But nobody comes here because of the lack of airports and connections. It’s just not easy to get there. What a shame!
2) Turkmenistan
This was an important stop on the Silk Road in the 15th century. It owns one of the driest deserts in the world, the Karakum Desert. According to Human Rights Watch, it remains one of the world’s most repressive countries. But, it still has some amazing things such as the Darvaza gas crater, that is a natural gas field set on fire by geologists in 1971 to prevent the spread of methane gas and has been burning ever since.
3) Equatorial Guinea
Only US citizens can travel here without a visa, everybody else has to fill out a whole lot of paperwork. Yes, it has beautiful coasts, but doesn’t have great attractions and has one of the worst governments in the world. It just doesn’t appeal to most people.
4) Marshall Islands
This country is a collection of atolls and islands near the equator in the Pacific Ocean. This place is like a perfect paradise full of amazing landscapes and beaches. So why’s it on our list? There’s only one airline operating here, and it’s extremely expensive. So… that’s why.
5) Republic of Kiribati
This is a sovereign state in the central Pacific Ocean. It is the only country that is situated within all four hemispheres. Kiritimati is the world’s largest atoll, and it’s the first place on Earth to enter into the new year. Everything here is peaceful, calm and paradisaical. But don’t wait to much, a rise of sea level due to global warming will be inevitable.
6) Tuvalu
Formerly known as the Ellice Islands, between Hawaii and Australia, they comprise of three reef islands and six true atolls. But, the only way to get there is by sail boat. Also, they have high risks of tropical cyclones and the ever rising sea level threatens to wash them away.
7) Federal Republic of Somalia
This place is like a compilation of no-nos, starting by its political situation, and some other severe problems. So, we don’t encourage you to go, only unless you want to buy a fake university title on the black market. If not, stay away!
8) Republic of Nauru
It is the smallest state in the South Pacific. It only has two hotels and one airline to take you there, and that’s the good part of this place. There’s really nothing at all to visit here. It’s actually a phosphate-rock island with no attractions to visit anywhere. So that’s why it’s on our list…
9) Izu Islands
The Izu Islands are a group of volcanic islands in Japan. Because of their volcanic nature, the islands are constantly filled with the stench of sulfur. Tourism returned in 2005 but now you need to bring gas masks in case gas levels rise unexpectedly. So, that doesn’t seem too fun.
10) The Zone of Alienation
We all remember that terrible event that happened in the Eastern Europe where a nuclear reactor disaster caused the isolation of a 2.5 thousand square kilometer area. However, a few hundred samosely people still live there and visitors started coming back since 2009. It doesn’t seem the best place for a visit, right?… It’s just common sense…
Would you like to visit any of these places?
