We all love the relaxing feeling of a nice clean hotel room, without knowing everything that goes on in the background. Here are some Hotel Maid’s INSIDE SECRETS!
1. They’re Judging You
While they may be friendly and helpful to your face they’re judging you behind your back, so if you want your room to be properly cleaned, be kind and generous!
2. They meet celebrities
It may come as a surprise but maids don’t savour visits from celebrities, they can be demanding and fussy and even a friendly celebrity requires more than your average guest. Meaning more work for the same wage.
3. Vegas
Hotel staff in Las Vegas have a harder job in general because guests tend to want to party hard and really let themselves go, which can be very messy, (Depending on how much they let themselves go). Its also not uncommon for a guest to check in on a Friday and check out in an ambulance.
4. Cutting corners
Maids tend to be on a tight time scale, having to clean several floors of rooms each shift, so corner-cutting is not uncommon.
Partial vacuuming, not cleaning water glasses, only changing the upper bedding and excessive air freshener are some of these short cuts.
5. Buffet breakfast
Breakfast included maybe sound nice but its generally laid out by the desk staff who have no training in hygiene or food preparation. The coffee jug is normally just rinsed rather than washed and leftovers that can be reused, will be.
6. Touching your stuff
Hotel staff don’t want to touch your stuff but they do have to clean up and therefore anything in the way, has to move. This can lead to mistrust but in general, a maid won’t risk their job for anything you may have left in your room.
7. Cancellation fee loophole
Losing your money because of having to cancel a reservation, can be avoidable. If you first ask nicely to change your reservation to a later date. You can then cancel the reservation a few days later staying within the allowed cancellation deadline.
8. They Know Your Secrets
Maids aren’t stupid, they’ve seen all types of guest and cleaned all types of mess, so you’re not going to fool them. Maids don’t care what you do, as long as you’re respectful, friendly and clean.
9. Profiling
If you are a regular guest at a hotel you probably have a profile and a nickname on their system. This isn’t a bad thing as it will contain your likes and dislikes and personal preferences. If you’re a bad guest it’ll probably warn the staff too.
10. Revenge
If you ARE a bad guest, things, will, be done!!
A little dust in your bed, air freshener sprayed into your water glass. Subtle but effective!
Which secret surprised you the most?
