We love travelling, but sometimes we forget that things that we consider normal or polite mean quite the opposite in other countries. So to avoid problems, here are some terrible things you shouldn’t do in a foreign country.
1) Don’t Imitate the Accent
Forget about imitating Irish accent in Ireland. They don’t think they have a strong accent and feel like you are making fun of them.
2) Mind your gestures
As well as English people have a particular way to say number two with their fingers, in Turkey doing the OK gesture with your hands doesn’t mean anything good for them. So don’t do it.
3) Forget the jokes
In Mexico they will get you tired because they will be joking all the time. Don’t take them into account too much, htey’re just jokes.
4) No church
In Norway, people is very reserved and don’t like to talk about personal matters such as religion, so avoid picking up this topic of conversation.
5) Learn the fork rules
In Chile it’s not well seen to eat by using your hands, you must use the cutlery. In case you can’t distinguish a fork or knife from another, learn how to use them first.
6) No gum
In Singapore chewing gum is banned so leave your gums at home or face a painful fine of $1,000
7) No kissing
In India, being affectionate is a bad thing. If you kiss a person of the opposite sex in public you can get imprisoned.
8) Be careful with flowers
In Russia, to give an even number of flowers is not a nice thing to do cause it’s related to cementeries. So remember that before giving flowers as a gift.
9) No tipping
In Japan, tipping is not allowed, so they will give you back your money if you try to tip them. Well, bad for them, better for you, right?
10) Remember the differences.
No, Aussies and Kiwis are not the same. The former one means Australian people, and the latter one people from New Zealand. Don’t be a blabbermouth.
