Vistors to Iceland are now being given the option to plant trees to help offset the carbon footprint of all the travel that’s been going on in recent years.
The plan comes from Iceland’s forestry department. The Icelandic Forest Service will be planting and managing the trees, while the private company Landsskogar ehf will be handling the rest of the details.
Other organizations around the world offer other ways to offset the carbon footprint of travel as well. Terrapass and Climate Care are two that allow people to calculate the carbon footprint of their trip and then donate money to things like reforestation efforts and renewable energy.
It is also now possible to check out the emission rankings of airlines to determine which flight choice might be best for the environment.
