Virgin Voyages has revealed the first details about their inaugural ship. Virgin’s Sir Richard Branson and Virgin Voyages President and CEO Tom McAlpin shared the details at what they called a “Ship Tease.”
The two announced that their first ship will be built with a strong attention to detail and is intended to feel intimate. Part of the way that they will make it feel more intimate is by the room set up. Ninety-three percent of the rooms on the ship will have an ocean view and 86 percent will have an ocean facing terrace, which they hope will make people feel more connected to the ocean.
When the ship takes off it will only be available to people aged 18 and over. They explained that there is a demand for adult only cruise trips, and also that the ship would be of a luxurious nature. There are three ships in the works with the first one scheduled to be ready in 2020.
Tom McAlpin spoke about the ship’s appeal.
“Virgin Voyages is creating a sophisticated ship and a transformational experience that offers our sailors a place where rejuvenating day-life meets exciting nightlife and everything in between.”
