Universal Studios Japan has announced their plans to open a Super Nintendo World by the year 2020. The new park will be open in time for the Olympics that are being held in Tokyo that year.
The Nintendo’s American Twitter page announced the news this week.
“#SUPERNINTENDOWORLD featuring attractions based on many Nintendo titles is coming to Universal Studios Japan!”
Super Nintendo World will be built on a portion of the Universal property that is currently a parking lot, and is expected to cost around $433 million to build.
The Nintendo characters and worlds will be brought into existence by Nintendo Creative Fellow Shigeru Miyamoto and the President of Universal Creative Mark Woodbury.
The park will have interactive areas, new rides, and restaurants and stores in the Super Nintendo theme. Other Nintendo themed areas will also be opening up in the Orlando and Hollywood located Universal parks as well.
