Universal Orlando recently bought a plot of land 101 acres large without publicly mentioning what they bought it for. The assumption is that they might be planning another park, albeit secretly for the time being.
The purchase reportedly cost $27.5 million. The new acres are in addition to the 475 acres that Universal bought in 2015. Now they own 570 acres of land, which is more space than Universal Studios, Islands of Adventure, Volcano Bay, CityWalk, and their hotels combined. That means that something big could be coming along.
Some people have expressed that they think Universal might be creating something a bit more family friendly since a lot of the current attractions are big draws for older kids but not the younger ones. Obviously, in the Florida area their competition is Disney World, which is very family friendly.
Universal has recently shared that they have plans to build two hotels near the Volcano Bay water park. It will be interesting to see what else they have up their sleeves with the rest of the space.
