On Wednesday a United Airlines flight made the decision to make an emergency landing because of a suspicious device. The United flight 1243 was traveling from from Newark Liberty International Airport to San Diego International Airport when some crew members discovered something on board that they had questions about.
Ultimately the crew decided that the item was suspicious enough to warrant an emergency landing, so they diverted the plane into Denver International Airport around 930 PM. When the plane landed it was met with officials from both the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Denver Police Department, and the passengers were bussed into an airport terminal while they investigated the scene.
Once the officials checked things out however, they determined that the item did not seem to have any threat and there wasn’t any further questioning required. They then the passengers back onto the plane and allowed it continued on to its final destination of San Diego, where it arrived just before midnight.
It was not explained what the suspicious device actually was, but one passenger claimed to hear noises coming from behind her where there was damage to a seat.
“It was like a buzzing alarm system or an oven alarm and the seat had to be ripped apart.”
