Uber has already announced that it’s been working on driverless cars, and now this week they announced that they brought on the company Geometric Intelligence to help bring artificial intelligence into the picture.
AI Labs, as the new research team is being called, is working on making the driverless technology as safe and as enjoyable as possible. A statement from Uber read:
“It manifests in myriad ways, from determining an optimal route to computing when your car or UberEATS order will arrive to matching riders for uberPOOL. It extends to teaching a self-driven machine to safely and autonomously navigate the world, whether a car on the roads or an aircraft through busy airspace or new types of robotic devices.”
Uber’s move toward driverless cars is both a plan to make more money, as well as to step out ahead of the competition and lead the way in ride share and delivery companies.
