The amount of U.S. citizen moving to New Zealand has been steadily increasing. New Zealand’s Department of Internal Affairs has reported an increase in citizenship applications following Trump’s presidency announcement.
In the 12 weeks following the election, the amount of Americans applying for citizenship rose 70 percent from the year prior. Travel visa applications increased as well.
However, while the interest seemed to spike quite a bit, the actual numbers are quite low. The applications for American citizens with no family in the country totaled at 170.
For people who already had a family connection in the country the total of applications was 203, and work visa applications totaled at 254.
