The U.K. is experiencing some record travel numbers from the U.S. and China. During the first quarter of the year the visits were up by ten percent while spending was up by 16 percent. From China alone, the rate of visitors went up 27 percent.
The visitation rates from France and Australia were also up, albeit less of an increase than from the U.S. and China.
The VisitBritain director Patricia Yates spoke about the increase.
“With forward bookings for international arrivals tracking ahead for the coming months, we are anticipating a strong summer holiday season as we promote the message of value and welcome globally, showing people why they should book a holiday to Britain right now.”
They believe that this is a trend that will continue.
