Tourism numbers to the Cayman Islands have been going up. The Carribean destination saw a 12.8 percent year-over-year increase in June alone. The numbers for April were even higher.
U.S. travelers have been driving the highest increase to the area. According to information from the Cayman Islands Department of Tourism, in June as many as 82 percent of overnight guests were from the U.S.
Part of the increase in tourism can be attributed to the fact that there is also increased air travel opportunities to the area. One of those services is a new SouthWest route between Grand Cayman and Fort Lauderdale.
The island has also opened more hotels recently, including the Margaritaville Beach Resort Grand Cayman on Grand Cayman’s Seven Mile Beach and the Kimpton Seafire Resort & Spa.
