Tourism all over the world is showing a positive growth flow. The United Nations World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) has shared the details of its 2017 World Tourism Barometer.
The report looks at the period between January and April this year. It shows that across all categories travel is up in comparison to 2016. This is true even in areas where there could be questions of safety concern after recent incidents.
The UNWTO Secretary-General Taleb Rifai made a statement about the good news.
“Destinations that were affected by negative events during 2016 are showing clear signs of recovery in a very short period of time, and this is very welcoming news for all, but particularly for those whose livelihoods depend on tourism in these destinations.”
