There are reportedly three different NBA teams who have made the decision to refuse stays at any of the Trump hotels. ESPN has reported that the Milwaukee Bucks, Memphis Grizzlies, and Dallas Mavericks will no longer be staying at New York’s Trump SoHo and Chicago’s Trump International Hotel & Tower.
Their intention was expressed to be at least partly due to the association with the new presidential elect Donald Trump.
Both the Mavericks owner Mark Cuban, and the Milwaukee Bucks co-owner Marc Lasry openly backed Hillary Clinton in the election, and some other NBA coaches like the Golden State Warriors’ Steve Kerr and the Detroit Pistons’ Stan Van Gundy were vocal about their disappointment after Trump’s win.
There is at least one other team that is not yet identified but is planning to switch from the Trump SoHo to another Manhattan hotel when their contract is up.
Some other teams have shared that they won’t be staying at the Trump hotels but did not mention that the reason was political, and seven NBA teams have confirmed that they will continue to stay at the hotels.
