Earlier in the week, an avalanche in Italy was reported that trapped a group of people inside of a ski resort. On Friday the rescue workers managed to free a woman and child and have found ten other people alive inside of the hotel.
The people had been stuck inside the Farindola’s Hotel Rigopiano for 40 hours since 16 feet of snow covered the building on Wednesday afternoon. The initial reports stated that 30 people had gone missing in the avalanche, and so far authorities have recovered two dead bodies and the others found alive seem to be uninjured.
The avalanche was set off by an earthquake in the area, and the massive amounts of snow and debris destroyed most of the hotel other than the pool and spa. The four-story hotel reportedly slid 32 feet off its foundation from the impact.
