According to the rental booking site HomeAway, Oklahoma is one of the top tourism destinations for travel within the United States. It seems that people have taken a renewed liking to nature and getting away from the city life. (At least some of the time.)
In addition to Oklahoma, other popular destinations include Spirit Lake in Iowa and Hill Country in Texas. Houses close to national parks have seen a big increase in popularity and will continue to do so. People seem more and more interested in staying in rentals such as barns, treehouses, and trailers if it means being close to the land.
Karen Fuller, HomeAway’s senior director of global market research released a statement about the new travel and home booking trends.
“Travelers renting homes on beaches and mountains are a mainstay of the vacation home rental industry. But as more and more travelers rely on HomeAway and VRBO, it’s interesting to see their preferences evolve. I would not have predicted a demand for treehouses.”
