Last year the first ever Star Trek cruise was announced, and being hosted by William Shatner it sold out pretty quickly. Now two more of the cruises have been announced for January of 2018, fittingly called Star Trek: The Cruise II.
This time around the cruises will be hosted by George Takei, and will sail from Miami to the Caribbean. The Norwegian Jade cruise ship will carry 2,402 passengers, and the cruises will be six and five days long. At this point, 4,000 people have already signed up for the trips, so anyone interested better think fast and be ready to plan ahead.
The cruise is expected to be a “fully immersive experience” with specially designed rooms, Star Trek cocktails, nightly themed parties, and Q&A sessions.
In addition to George Takei there are many other cast members joining the cruise as well. So far the ones that have been announced include: Brent Spiner, LeVar Burton, Michael Dorn and Gates McFadden from Star Trek: The Next Generation; Terry Farrell and Rene Auberjonois from Deep Space Nine; and Ethan Phillips from Star Trek: Voyager. More are to be expected.
George spoke about the opportunity in a press release.
“I am so excited and honored that so many of you are so eager to vacation with me and my Star Trek colleagues.”
