Spain’s Ferrari Land is now open about an hour outside of Barcelona, covering 750,000-square-feet. In addition to rides, the resort has five hotels, three golf courses, and a beach club.
The 11 park attractions include a ride that’s meant to emulate the experience of a Formula 1 race car driver. Red Force reaches speeds of 112 MPH within five seconds, which makes the ride the tallest and fastest roller coaster in Europe.
While those speeds are impressive they’re still slower than the version of the ride at Ferrari World in Abu Dhabi. That one reaches speeds of 149 MPH.
PortAventura’s development manager Luis Carlos Valencia said that building the ride had “been an operation of almost surgical precision, only possible under optimal wind conditions.”
General Manager Fernando Aldecoa says the park will “attract a foreign clientele that comes mostly from France, the U.K. and Russia and that appreciates the family-friendly nature of our offering. The partnership with Ferrari will allow us to grow in northern Europe and Italy.”
