Southwest Airlines has announced new routes throughout California. The 23 new flights each week will depart from Sacramento and include destinations like New Orleans, Orlando, St. Louis, Austin, and Cabo San Lucas, Mexico.
The airline’s vice president Andrew Watterson spoke out about the move.
“The California economy is strong, and the Sacramento economy is strong. People are traveling more, so we are responding.”
In addition to announcing almost 20 new routes, the airline also announced that they will be expanding the frequency of 27 routes that currently exist. There will be daily nonstop routes between Sacramento and cities like San Jose, Boise, St.Louis, Austin, and Houston.
