Singapore has new plans for the design of their bus stops. One stop in Jurong has been redesigned so far with the intention to “redesign a commonplace thing we take for granted.”
The new design includes a rooftop garden, a swing, a bike parking station, and a book trade library. There is also free wi-fi and a phone charging station. Interactive screens at the station provide information about local events, news, and the weather.
Even better, the energy that the bus station is using is partly being powered by its solar panels. The government is planning a year-long trial for the station’s design, after which they will decide if it should be spread to other bus stops in Singapore.
