The Leonids Meteor Shower will occur at midnight on November 17. Thanks to the fact that the meteor shower will take place on a new moon, this year happens to be one of the best times to see it.
This meteor shower is unique based on the fact that it can be seen from both the Northern and Southern Hemisphere, as long as there’s plenty of darkness and low horizons in the area. Some suggestions for places to go include state parks and other areas where there the land is protected from man-made light.
It’s also important to avoid looking at light while you are waiting for the meteor shower to take place, which means put away the cell phones. It takes your eyes a bit of time to adjust and you definitely want to have them in peak viewing condition.
The Leonids will also make an appearance next year in 2018.
