Saudi Arabia has plans to build a massive city that will cost $500 billion to do so. The city plan is so big that it would span three countries and become the world’s first independent economic zone.
What that means is that the city would get to come up with its very own laws, taxes, and regulations. The city is currently being referred to as NEOM and it will be an eco-friendly spot, being run completely on solar and wind panels.
Food for the city will residents will come from urban farms, seawater farming, and greenhouses. (solar powered ones.) They have plans to create the world’s largest garden, theme parks, water parks, marinas, and visual arts arenas.
The first phase of the project is expected to be done as soon as 2025.
