In the quest to grab tourism dollars, Royal Caribbean is constantly working to outdo its previous efforts, to put out bigger, better and more luxurious cruise ships designed to travel through paradise. Well, Royal Caribbean is going to have to put in some real work to top their latest ship, Harmony of the Seas, the biggest cruise ship ever made.
Weighing in at a whopping 120,000 tons, the brand new cruise ship is longer than the Eiffel Tower is tall (by more than 50 meters). The ship surpasses sister ships Oasis and Allure of the Seas in size. Size alone wasn’t enough for Royal, who also dropped close to a billion dollars on the endeavor. “It’s not only the biggest cruise ship in the world, it’s also the most expensive ever built,” said Richard Fain, head of RCCL. As a result, the ship contains some pretty cool features.
There’s the 10-story slide that runs from the top deck to the main deck, there’s a bar tended by robot bartenders, two FloRider surf simulators, there’s mini-golf, a casino, and 1,440-seat theater decked out in truly opulent fashion.
This new ship can hold 2,100 crew members and more than 6,300 passengers who will spread across 16 decks when the Harmony of the Seas takes its maiden voyage on May 22.
