Royal Carribean cruises has become the second cruise ship company to add lifeguards on deck. The addition will start this week.
Adding the lifeguards is a part of a new water safety program and will include keeping at least one lifeguard on duty during all open pool hours. They will also put up more signs reminding parents of water safety for their children.
The company says that the new program is being launched “to raise awareness amongst our guests about the importance of vigilance while enjoying water features on our ships.”
The only other cruise ship company that offers the same is Disney, who only implemented having lifeguards on duty after a near drowning in 2013.
