Quintana Roo is Seeing an Increase in Visitors

October 5, 2017 by Kate Ferguson

The state of Quintana Roo includes tourist hotspots such as Cancun and the Riviera Maya, and its popularity is only continuing to grow. The beginning of the fall season is generally a slower time for the area, but this year that hasn’t seemed to be the case.

The occupancy rate in the area was 65 percent this September, which was an increase from the rates last year. There doesn’t seem to have been a drop in tourism numbers in the Mexican Caribbean, not even following the recent earthquakes and other travel warnings.

Cruise ships have been bringing more visitors to the area, with Cozumel welcoming close to five million cruise visitors this year. There have more jobs created in the area within the travel industry which helps to sustain it for a variety of reasons.
