In an effort to encourage more travel to Australia, Qantas is offering to pay for people’s passports. The airline has found that tons of U.S. citizens have the country on their bucket lists, but that two-thirds of Americans don’t have a valid passport.
The airline is currently offering a passport discount fee that basically covers the processing fees if you book a flight with them. (You can still get the flight discount even if you already have a passport.)
Qantas chief customer officer Olivia Wirth released a statement about the opportunity.
“Australia is in the top five destinations Americans would consider traveling to in the next four years, yet more than half the population do not hold a valid passport. As Australia’s national carrier, we are proud and excited to share all that Australia has to offer—and with this campaign, we are keen to help boost tourism to our cities, towns and regional areas at the same time.”
