The concerns over tourism in Paris are continuing to increase after the alleged robbery of Kim Kardashian on Sunday night while she was staying in the city. Kim was not injured in the incident, but she was held at gunpoint and robbed of over $10 million of jewelry.
Kim was in Paris for fashion week at the time, and the incident is a highly publicized one because of the nature of her celebrity. This incident adds onto the list that also includes the terrorist attacks that have occurred within France in recent years. One of those attacks took the lives of 130 people in Paris, while the other 86 people in Nice.
France is still recovering from those violent acts and the Paris regional tourism board as reported that the city’s tourism numbers have been down about 6.4 percent since then.
Kim immediately left the city after she had spoken to local police, and most certainly will be rethinking security measures in the future. At the time of the robbery Kim was staying in a private apartment and the men gained entry to the unit by threatening the concierge at the front with a weapon. When they entered her apartment they tied her up and locked her in the bathroom while they robbed her.
