Paris is dealing with a bed bug problem and according to them, American tourists are to blame. The issue has been called “explosive” and is particular an issue at Disneyland Paris which many Americans frequent.
Of course, it’s not possible to know where they are actually coming from, but it is certainly an issue. The property management group RIVP said that 20 percent of their properties have been infested and that people are being forced to throw away their mattresses every day.
There’s not much that travelers can do about bed bugs besides check for them and then check out of the hotel if they’re in the bed. One way to check for them is to point a hot blow dryer at the bed. The heat will cause a commotion from inside the mattress and cause the bedbugs to climb out.
