Orlando, Florida is reportedly the top destination for Memorial Day travelers according to AAA. This information was gathered by taking into account booking information and projects that this will be the busiest Memorial Day weekend that Orlando has seen in 12 years.
Orlando beat out Rome, London, Dublin, Vancouver, Seattle, Las Vegas, New York City, Paris, and Honolulu in that order. There is expected to be a spike in Memorial Day travel this year for all destinations.
Vicky Evans, the Assistant Vice President of the Travel Sales Development at AAA released a statement about the boost.
“The expected spike in Memorial Day travel mirrors the positive growth seen throughout the travel industry this year. So far in 2017, travel bookings with AAA in Florida are up 17 percent, compared to the same period last year. Higher confidence, rising wages, and recent gas price declines have bolstered consumer spending, leaving many Americans with more money to spend on travel this Memorial Day.”
