Former president Barack Obama is heading to Germany for his first diplomatic trip following the ending of his presidency. He’s traveled for pleasure since leaving office but this is the first trip he’s been on with a political agenda.
Obama will be attending an event in Berlin titled “Actively shaping democracy – taking responsibility at home and abroad.”
Current president Donald Trump will also be traveling to Europe the same day, but he will be heading to Brussels for a NATO summit. Both the U.S. and German governments say that having them both travel the same day was completely unintentional.
Obama’ pleasure travels prior to this included spending some time in the Carribean with Sir Richard Branson.
