New York City and Toronto are partnering up in an effort to boost tourism to both cities. This partnership between their official tourism bureaus is the first of its kind for Toronto.
The deal is set for two years and will include the exchange of $500,000 worth marketing assets. Those will include things like ads at bus stops and other forms of media. The partnership is a natural one for them based on how much they feed each other already. New York is the largest source of tourists for Toronto, and Canada is the third largest source of international visitors to New York.
NYC & Company CEO Fred Dixon spoke out about the deal.
“New York City and Toronto share so much in common and both cities wholeheartedly embrace their diversity and multicultural dynamism, positioning both destinations as attractive and welcoming hubs for global travel. We look forward to cultivating our city-to-city collaboration with Toronto over the next two years and using the expanded relationship to boost more travel between Toronto and New York City.”
Air Canada is offering flight discounts between the cities as an introductory move.
