New York City is currently in the midst of a hotel boom. According to the marketing and tourism board NYC & Company, the city will be making available 25,000 more hotel rooms within the next two years.
The new rooms will include both those at new hotel being built, as well as older properties that are currently undergoing renovations. Many of the hotels close to airports and key attractions are taking part in an effort to make their properties more appealing and efficient.
The company’s President and CEO, Fred Dixon released a statement about the move.
“New York City expects 139,000 total rooms in our inventory by the end of 2019 based on the current robust pipeline. Our five-borough destination continues to attract new and return visitors, from business and meetings delegates to leisure travelers seeking authentic, live-like-a-local experiences to ‘bleisure’ travelers who combine both.”
