A Johnny Cash trail was recently opened in Folsom, California. The trail was created in tribute to the singer, who immortalized the town in his 1968 album At Folsom Prison.
The gives access to the historic district of Folsom and the American River Parkway. It welcomes walkers, runners, and bikers. Continued work will be done to the trail, such as adding in some public artwork.
The city held a party as an opening event to welcome the trail, and Jonny’s daughter Cindy Cash was in attendance. She expressed that the musician would have been honored by the gesture.
“If my dad could see all of you people here, 14 years after he died, he would say, ‘Why me? Why did everyone do this for me?’”
